LI-RADS may be used in patients with cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis B viral infection or with current or prior HCC including adult liver transplant candidates and recipients posttransplant.

Do not apply in patients less than 18 years old, without cirrhosis due to congenital hepatic fibrosis, with cirrhosis due to a heridetary disorder such as heridetary hemorrhagic telangectasis, Budd-Chiari syndrome, chronic portal vein occlusion, cardiac congestion, or diffuse nodular regenerative hyperplasia.

Do not assign LI-RADS categories to path proven benign or malignant lesions.

Before you use this tool, consider if the scan is diagnostic (LR-NC), whether a lesion appears benign (LR-1, LR-2) or if the lesion appears malignant but not classified with this algorithm (LR-TIV and LR-M).
